Ruby Cottrell, 78, of Kennewick, Wash., formerly of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021.

Ruby was born Nov. 25, 1942, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Ira and Dorothy Krieger. On June 9, 1957, Ruby married the love of her life, Joseph Cottrell.

Family and friends were everything to Mom and she was always there giving love, support, encouragement ….. and she was the best "boo-boo kisser" there ever was. Mom was a great cook, and we all enjoyed her beer biscuits and gravy, soup beans, fried taters and cornbread, and well as several other family favorite meals. Her chocolate chip cookies were the best around. If Mom wasn't in the house doing "Mom" things, you could find her helping Dad build fence, paint the house or even just handing Dad a nail or a tool. Her favorite pass times were working in her flower beds, going to garage sales and thrift stores.

Ruby is survived by her three children, Vickie (Pete) Palmer, Dee (Steve) Tozer and Joseph Cottrell II, her grandchildren, David (Beth) Tozer and Robert (Lisa) Priebe; six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Judy Kennedy and Connie Bush; and her brother, Sam Krieger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Kent Priebe; grandsons, Brandon and Damien; and great-grandson, George.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Rome Baptist Church in Rome, Iowa, with Pastor Guy Sammons officiating. Burial will follow the service in Grant Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Rome Baptist Church and or to Grant Cemetery in her memory.
