Ruby Lavena Mills, 79, of 206 South Harrison, Mt. Pleasant died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at her home.

The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Peggy Egbert officiating. Burial was in Oakland Mills Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Oakland Mills Cemetery.

Mrs. Mills was born Sept. 12, 1920, at Boise, Idaho, the daughter of Otis and Laura Harrison. She married Iliff Sylvester Mills on June 27, 1935. She was a member of New Sweden Methodist Church and she was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Edwin LeRoy Mills of Demming, N.M.; two daughters, Sharon Virginia Rhum of Mt. Pleasant and Mary Alice McDowell of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marjorie Hourihan of Mt. Pleasant, Adra Barr of West Burlington, Mildred Boese of Mt. Pleasant, and Dorothy Morris of Lockridge. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Warren Iliff Mills; and one brother, Otis Harrison.
