MOBILE, Ala. ? Russell Loyd Carter, 88, of Theodore, Alabama, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, in Theodore.
Private celebration of life services are tentatively planned for Saturday, Sept. 10, in Alabama. Azalea City Funeral Home at 690 Zeigler Circle West, Mobile, Alabama, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carter was born Jan. 8, 1928.
He lived in Washington, where his mother had a small restaurant, the ?Dew Drop Inn,? for many years. He and his sisters graduated from Washington High School. He worked as a tire specialist at Shell Service Station, servicing vehicles ranging from passenger cars to heavy equipment from the stone quarry, and farm machinery. He became a minister for Jehovah?s Witnesses and served until his final illness.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine Carter, of Theodore, Alabama; four children, Mel Carter and wife Jackie, Russ Carter and wife Barbara, Carly Self and husband Jerry, and Dee Dee Rounds and husband Ben; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Carter; his mother, Edna Carter Brinning; one son, Charles Carter; and two siblings, Rose Ana Haifley, and Rowena Davidson.
