Russell L. Deere, 51, of Marshalltown, died at 2:18 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington where the family will meet with friends from 6-7:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with Rev. Philip Schmidt officiating. Burial with full military rites by the Farmington American Legion will be at Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.
A memorial has been established to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Born March 13, 1956 at Keokuk, he was the son of Ardath L. and Margaret L. Evans Deere. On Nov. 7, 1987 at Kansas City, Mo., he married Ellen Manley. They divorced in 1996.
Russell was a 1974 graduate of Harmony High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving for four years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmington and enjoyed bluegrass music and playing the guitar.
Survivors include three daughters, Lauren Deere, Lucy Deere and Chelsea Deere all of Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Margaret Deere of Farmington; one brother, Michael L. Deere of Fort Madison; one sister, Patricia L. (Larry) Wooten of Lakewood, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father.
