Russell Loraine Norton
Russell Loraine Norton was born February 15, 1918 to Sherman and Blanch (Eshelman) Norton in Clear Lake, Wisconsin. The family later moved to Iowa. He was educated at Mohawk Country School in Jefferson County, Iowa.
Russell was part of the 28th U.S. Naval Seabees during World War II. He entered the service September 18, 1942 and served through December 20, 1945. He was always very proud of his country and his time served.
He married Shirley Statler on April 11, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Russell and Shirley had one daughter, Cheryl Mae, born June 1, 1949.
