Ruth A. Hanchar

MAQUOKETA - Ruth A. Hanchar, 92, of Maquoketa, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

      Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 in the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa with the Rev. Jeff Dadisman officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa where an Eastern Star ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa.

      Mrs. Hanchar was born Dec. 8, 1915 on a farm north of Washington, the daughter of Fred D. and Lula (Hays) Stewart. She married Raymond Hanchar on June 8, 1940 in Chicago, ill. He died Nov. 30, 2000.
