Ruth Ann Dawson, 57, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Washington United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 19, at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the service begins. Ruth will be cremated following the service and a private burial will be held Thursday, October 20, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Paws and More to support the dog park. The Beatty Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ruth Ann Dawson was born November 11, 1964, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of John Alden and Mary Ellen (DuVall) Dawson. She graduated from Washington High School in 1983, William Penn College with a degree in business and Ellsworth Community College as an LPN. She worked as a nurse in several nursing homes throughout her career. She was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church and she enjoyed art, knitting, coloring books, animals, cooking, board games and music.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Dawson of Washington; three children, Cameron Kleinschmidt, Courtney (Husband Patrick) Kleinschmidt-Christian and Chloe Kleinschmidt (fiance Precious Paye), all of Oskaloosa; her sister, Sue Ellen Hedstrom of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and her girlfriend, Carrie Cummings of Washington.

Preceding Ruth in death was her father, John, in 2005; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
