Ruth Fenton Stigge

Ruth Fenton Stigge, 96, of Centerville, and formerly of Danville, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.

Visitation will be after noon Thursday, Aug. 23, at Elliott Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be Friday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Elliott Chapel. Interment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, West Burlington.

Born March 18, 1911 in Centerville, she was the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Newkirk) Evans. On Dec. 22, 1929, she married Doris Fenton. They later divorced, and on June 20, 1961 she married Harry Stigge. Mrs. Stigge was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, reading and her family. She attended the Danville Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Marion) Main of Moravia and Marjorie (Jack) McVey of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, Jerry (Linda) Fenton and Gary (Janice) Fenton, all of Burlington; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Verle, six sisters, three brothers, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
