Ruth June Roggentien, 88, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, February 7, 2025, in Marengo, IA. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on March 23, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the American Legion Hall in Marengo.

Ruth was born on March 22, 1936, to George and Irna Roberts in Irving, IA. She spent her childhood years in Victor, IA, until she graduated in 1956. Ruth married Duane “Whitey” Roggentien on February 15, 1963, and later settled down in Marengo, IA. Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and cooking or baking for those around her. She loved being outdoors fishing, camping, and tending to her garden. She also enjoyed walking with her beloved chihuahua, Rosie.

Ruth is survived by son Todd (Sheila) of Marengo; daughter Teresa Garringer of Marengo; grandchildren Cole Roggentien, Austin, Andrew, and Sophia Garringer, and Rick, Jacob, and Reif (Alexis) McBride; great-grandchildren William McBride and Morgan McBride; siblings William (Vickie) Roberts of Victor, Linda (Richard) Glandorf of Victor, and Martha Boedecker of Alexander; sisters-in-law Mary Roberts of Victor and Alice Roggentien of Cedar Rapids, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane, a daughter (in infancy), Shelly Ann; and her brothers David and Clifford "Joe" Roberts of Victor.
