Ruth L. Wyse, 96, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Addington Place of Mt. Pleasant.
Ruth was born on March 11, 1926, on the family farm west of Trenton, the daughter of Joseph Lloyd and Alice (Brannon) Graber. She began her education at Eagle School rural Trenton, graduating from the Mt. Pleasant High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Max L. Wyse on December 21, 1946, at her parents’ home west of Trenton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2020.
Ruth was an active member of the Trenton Missionary Church, where she served as the secretary of the church board for several years, a Sunday school teacher and part of the Women’s Missionary Group. She had worked at the Henry County Health Center and Lori’s Loft both of Mt. Pleasant. Ruth raised a large garden and enjoyed canning her produce. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cross stitching. Ruth was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Most importantly, Ruth’s family was her highest priority, and she treasured their time spent together.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Charla (L.J.) Roth and Janice (James) Hughes, all of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Julie Miller, Jeffrey (Melanie) Roth, Jennifer (Andrew) Peterson, Joy (Robert) Szewczyk, Jeremy (Heather) Hughes and Jordan (Stormy) Hughes; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Davison of Mt. Pleasant; and her sister-in-law, Sherry Graber, of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max; two sisters, Esther Hirschy and Josephine Conner; and two brothers, Kenneth Graber and John Graber.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trenton Missionary Church with Rev. David Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be directed to the Trenton Missionary Church Missions to be used for mission work or to EveryStep Hospice in her memory.
