Ruth Lourene Holden

      Ruth Lourene Holden, 82, of Washington, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at United Presbyterian Church in Washington, with the Rev. Ron McMenamin officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 that evening. Memorials may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church, DAR or Washington Beautification Committee.

      Mrs. Holden was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Washington, to Arthur E. and Bessie L. (Ritchey) Wead. She married Harvey Holden on Sept. 14, 1940, in Washington.
