Ruth M. Hudson

      Ruth M. Hudson, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 7:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in the Good Samaritan Center of Keosauqua.

      The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home. There will be no family visitation. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center of Keosauqua. Burial will be in the Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.

      Mrs. Hudson was born Feb. 15, 1914, in Stockport, the daughter of Charles and Nellie Wasson Harlan. She married Delbert Hudson on December 10, 1929, in Ottumwa, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1967. She was a homemaker and also worked for 20 years at the Mental Health Institute until her retirement. She raised purebred Pomeranian dogs and also made teddy bears and other stuffed animals.

      Survivors include two daughters, Helen and Harold Mendenhall of Mt. Pleasant and Ramona and Harold Countryman of Birmingham; a son, John Hudson of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Florence Brobston; two brothers, Leslie and Caroll Harlan; and a sister, Verna Brown.
