KEOTA ? Ruth See, 98, of Keota, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, in the Keota Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with the Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Kinross Christian Church or Hospice Compassus. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. See was born Feb. 12, 1917, in Keota, the daughter of Albert and Maude (Watters) Schauenberg. She married James See on Dec. 30, 1938, and the couple enjoyed 50-plus years of marriage.
She received her education in Kinross schools. After their marriage, she and her husband lived in Columbus Junction, where they owned a restaurant. They then moved to Wapello, where they managed a grocery store until moving back to Keota. She was a cook at Keota High School until retiring at age 62. She was a member of the Kinross Christian Church and enjoyed cooking, working, and her extended family.
Surviving are two children, James See and wife Linda of Mason City, and Joyce See of Keota; two sisters-in-law, Esther See of Keota, and Dorothy Vorbach of Golden Valley, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; one brother, Robert ?Dale? Schauenberg; and four sisters, Anna Mae Schauenberg, Rosa Peiffer, Edith McDonald, and Mary Pine.
