Ruth Wilma Ahrens

Ruth Wilma Ahrens, 95, of Washington, died Sunday Sept. 21, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief decline in health.

      Celebration of life services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery.      A memorial fund has been established for the Palliative Care (Hospice) Unit at the University of Iowa.

      Mrs. Ahrens was born April 14, 1913, at a country home near Riverside, the daughter of William Frank and Rose Vera (Marek) Tellin. On Oct. 14, 1933, she married Harold Logan Ahrens in Fairfield.
