Sally Jo Schultz, 70, of Ainsworth, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at her home in Ainsworth, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Jone Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Burial will be in Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Jones Eden Funeral Home. Memorials have been established for Ainsworth Fire Department and Washington County Hospice. Sally was born on February 9, 1954 in Washington, Iowa to Bill and Dorothy (Davidson) Patterson. She attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1972. She married Steve Schultz on August 18, 1972.
While in high school, Sally worked at Maid Rite. Sally ran her own In-Home Daycare for 18 years of her life, serving as a mom and grandma to many. She also worked as a cook at Hoodwinks. Sally shared her talent as a Master Gardener while working in the Hy-Vee Green House. Sally was a girl scout leader, and part of the Green Umbrella Program. She treasured the time she spent around the fire pit with her family and friends. Sally loved watching the Kentucky Derby, and old movies. She enjoyed playing board games and card games. Sally’s hobbies included crocheting baby blankets, collecting tea pots, dancing and listening to music. She never knew a stranger. Once she knew you, you were family.
Survivors include her five children: Cassie (Trent) Olson of Ainsworth; Heather Schultz and significant other Benji of Iowa City; Waylon Schultz and significant other Sonese of Ainsworth; Austin Schultz of Richland and Amanda Schultz of Ainsworth; 4 grandchildren: Kaitlyn Schultz and significant other Cecil, Sarah Schultz, Payton Schultz, and Lilah Schultz; and one great-grandson, Bo Sypherd; two Goddaughters and their families, Ashley Stout and wife Ana, Joshalyn Loutsch and husband Eric.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve in 2011, and many friends who have gone before her.
