Sally S. Wenger, age 77, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, April 7, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for a children’s charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be sent for Sally’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Sally was born May 9, 1945, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Velma (Buswell) Miner. She attended school in Belle Plaine graduating from Belle Plaine High School in 1963. Sally later graduated from the University of Iowa with Master’s Degrees in Elementary Counseling and Social Work.
She has lived all of her adult life in Washington, Iowa, where she worked as an Elementary School Counselor for the Winfield and Morning Sun School Districts. Sally later worked as a Counselor at Young House Family Services in Burlington, Iowa. She deeply enjoyed gardening, and also enjoyed arts, crafts, antiques and quilting.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Shelley Schuelka and husband John of Burlington, Iowa; son, Aaron Wenger and wife Katy Straughter of Washington, Iowa; and seven grandchildren, John Henry Schuelka, Robby Schuelka, Dylan Wenger, Logan Wenger, Emmy Wenger, Frankie Straughter and Kaden Straughter. Sally is also survived by her sister, Sharon Lebeda and husband Larry of Alburnett, Iowa; sister, Lyn Nebel and husband John of Charles City, Iowa; brother, Jeff Miner and wife Claudia of Atkins, Iowa; sister, Pat Irons of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Buck Miner; and one sister, Elaine Gould.
