Samuel ?Sam? Hazen Sands

    COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? Samuel ?Sam? Hazen Sands, 79, of rural Columbus Junction, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at his home.

    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church with the Rev. Al Coffin officiating.  Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.  Following the burial services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice. 

    Mr. Sands was born July 7, 1930, in Washington County, the son of Glen and Edna L. (Moore) Sand.  He married Juanita Mae Carey on July 7, 1951, in Columbus Junction.  She preceded him in death.  He married Rita Chaney on June 19, 2004, in Columbus Junction.
