Sandra Kay “Sandy” Scott, age 85, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Brighton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
A memorial visitation with family present to receive friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Lake Darling State Park Lodge. A private family graveside service will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery, with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Memorials have been established for Brighton First Responders or Friends of Lake Darling. Online condolences may be sent for Sandy’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Sandy was born on June 12, 1939, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Blanche (Aldrich) Ammeter. She graduated from Starmont High School and later attended Cosmetology School in Dubuque, Iowa. On January 27, 1961, Sandy married Ronald L. Scott in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Sandy lived in Brighton for most of her married life. She worked as a hair stylist early on and later spent many years as a C.N.A. at the Washington Care Center. Sandy was an active member of Friends of Lake Darling, and she and Ron were camp hosts at the park for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served on the Brighton First Responders. Sandy had a love for playing BINGO and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her children: son, Todd Scott of Brighton, Iowa; daughter, Ronnette (Chris) Alexander of Washington, Iowa; and daughter, Terri (Dave) Crone of Brighton, Iowa; along with 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron in 2020; son, Kurt Scott in 2015; sister, Verla Mae Henderson; and two brothers, Darwin and Duane Ammeter.
