Sarah A. Hall, age 81, of Brooklyn, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Windsor Manor, in Grinnell. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn. Memorials may be contributed in Sarah’s name to Windsor Manor, in Grinnell. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 56 years, David; a brother, Tom Robey Sr.; six nephews, Jim (Teresa) Claeys and family, Joe (Ellen) Claeys, FJ Robey, Rod (Jackie) Robey and family, Dan Robey and David Robey; two nieces, Tracy Dodd and Kimberly Dempsey and family; and a great-niece, Macee (Sam) Tracy; She was preceded in death by a sister Pat Claeys, a brother and sister-in-law John and Karen Robey, and a nephew Tom Robey Jr.
Sarah Robey was born July 25, 1942, at St. Francis Hospital, in Grinnell, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Ann (McSwiggen) Robey. She graduated from Malcom High School and continued her education at the Teachers College of Cedar Falls, receiving her teaching degree in 1964. Sarah was united in marriage to David Hall on August 20, 1967. She taught school in Paulina, Creston and Brooklyn, until becoming a fulltime homemaker and helping David on the farm. Sarah enjoyed attending stock car races with David and working alongside him. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, watching cardinals and making her famous lime pickles. Sarah especially loved eating out with friends and spending time with her Collie dogs.
