Sarah Lucille “Sally” Farrier, age 72, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the United Presbyterian Home under hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the funeral home, with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Sandy Hook Cemetery. Sally was born on May 20, 1953, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Melba (Ingle) Farrier. She moved to Washington in fifth grade and attended school there. Over the years, she worked at a daycare with Peggy Richardson, Kalona Plastics in Kalona, Holiday Inn in Iowa City, and the University of Iowa. Sally enjoyed sewing and did upholstery work for her family and many friends. She also loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Lance “Poke” Hazelett and fiancée Diana Steele of Kirksville, Missouri; son, Landon “Tiny” (Tammy) Rarick of Ainsworth, Iowa; and daughter, Dawn “Dolly” (Matt) Richardson of Ainsworth, Iowa; ten grandchildren: Taylor (Josh) Jarrett, Tyler (Deanna) Hazelett, Chaz Hazelett, Tiger Hazelett, Brooke Rarick, Cooper Rarick, Tristin Richardson, Gauge Richardson, Nicholas Richardson, and Miles Richardson; brother, Andy (Kathy) Farrier of Wayland, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice (Jerry) Smith; brother, Donnie Farrier; sister, Jane (Ray) Bailey; and brother, Clarence “Wimpy” (Myra) Farrier.
