He was an advocate for racing and was the author behind "THE PIT STOP" column in the Ottumwa Courier. In addition, Scott wrote and published "From My Microphone To Your Ears" which chronicled his insight and experiences from his many years of motorsports announcing. He also was known for his auctioneering, his radio show and his column in the Ottumwa Courier. Scott especially loved his grandsons and enjoyed each and every moment he was able to spend with them. He will be extremely missed by his family, friends and everyone in the racing community that had the opportunity to hear him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milford Watson; and his father-in-law, Kriss Hootman.
