Steven L. Helfrich

Steven L. Helfrich, 63, of Sebastian, Fla., died Monday, December 4, 2017, after a battle with kidney cancer.

Mr. Helfrich was born February 20, 1954, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Mary (Helfrich) Conry and Charles F. Helfrich. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1976. He married Kerry Garland October 1, 1978.

He graduated from Kirkwood College in 1984 and Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in 1986. His career was as a treatment director and social worker specializing in dual diagnosed developmentally disabled adults.

Survivors include four brothers: Ronald of Washington, Iowa, Charles of Fernandina, Fla., Thomas of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Larry of Keokuk, Iowa; three sisters: Jessie Parker of LaFayette, Ga., Diane Helfrich and Linda Williams, both of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and several nephews and nieces.

Mr. Helfrich is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, one nephew, and one niece.
