Sharon Frances Sedore was born on August 21, 1940, in Moline, Illinois. She grew up in Silvis, IL and attended and graduated from United Township High School in 1958. It was during this time that she penned a letter to a young man in the army, Merle "Toad" Sedore, igniting a love story that would span over five decades. The couple exchanged vows on November 26, 1966, and began a journey filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect.
Sharon began her career as the assistant City Clerk of Silvis, Illinois, and worked at various establishments including the American Cafe, Beeding Trailer Sales, and Earl's Trailer Sales. Alongside her mother Gladys, Sharon co-owned the American Cafe from 1967 until 1970. Her career path led her to the Mobile Home Park as the Office Manager, and she later became a secretary/teller for the president and vice president of the First National Bank of Eldon. She also worked for eight years at Hawthorne Communications, and dedicated 21 years to Aschenbrenner Trucking, Inc.
Sharon's life was rich with community involvement and personal interests. She was a proud member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) and shared her love for camaraderie and competition in the Tuesday night bowling league for two decades, serving as treasurer for 17 years. Her commitment to her community was further exemplified by her 12-year tenure as the secretary/treasurer of the Eldon Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary.
A woman of many talents and hobbies, Sharon found joy in a variety of activities. She relished her trips to the casino to play the slot machines, and her hands were rarely idle as she engaged in sewing, gardening, and crafting. Yet, nothing compared to the love she had for her family, especially her grandbabies, who were her pride and joy.
Sharon's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her two daughters, Tanya (Steve) Fordyce of Fruitland, IA, and Crystal Thompson of Eldon, IA; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Williams, Shayla (Dallas) Gilleland, Shad Fordyce, and Courtney Sedore (Devon Yeo); four great-grandchildren, Quinn Williams, Ridge Williams, Rowan Gilleland, and Briggs Yeo; three siblings, William Fox, Earl (Bobbie) Fox, and Larri Fox, and two sisters-in-law, Betty Lee and Barb Kildow.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Gladys Fox; and Myrl Rosson; her beloved husband, Merle "Toad" Sedore; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Fox.
