"Life takes you to unexpected places. Love brings you home."
Sharon Lee (Williams) Holst, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at her home.
Sharon was born on December 25, 1940, the youngest daughter of Randall and Flora (Lohr) Williams in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Belle Plaine in 1958.
She met her future husband, Byron Holst, in 1957 at the Lincoln Cafe after a dance in Belle Plaine. They were united in marriage on October 24, 1959, at Christ United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine and celebrated 63 years together.
Sharon worked in various offices as an administrative assistant and spent many years as a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Christ United Methodist in Belle Plaine and Chelsea United Methodist Church In Chelsea, Iowa.
Sharon loved to dance, to read, and enjoyed crafts such as cross stitch and tole painting. She and Bryon were part of a card club for 47 years and later she was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Byron, of Atkins; her sister, Nona Kruger, of Cedar Falls; four children, Brad (Pam) Holst, of Rubicon, Wisconsin, Dawn (Greg) Ingraham, of Panama City Beach, Florida, Todd (Karen) Holst, of McKinney, Texas, and Heidi (Bill Coombs) Holst, of Albion, Maine; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law Klaas Kruger, and her aunts and uncles.
As was her wish, Sharon has deeded her body to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. There will be no public visitation or service at this time. The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
