Sharon Lynn Herring was born September 26, 1939, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of George John and Fern Adell (Mullnix) Kuhnle. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy, Iowa. She Graduated from Conroy Highschool in 1958, where she played basketball and was part of the band. On a beautiful snowy evening, December 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to Richard Slaymaker at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Sharon and Dick left for Virgina right after the wedding because Dick was in the Army. They were blessed with a son, Stuart. The couple later divorced. On April 15, 1967, she married Edwin Houser at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. They had a son Gary. Sharon and Ed were married for 37 years before Ed passed away March 22, 2004. Sharon worked in many printing shops before retirement years. On July 23, 2005 she was united in marriage to Roger Herring in Williamsburg. Sharon enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, having coffee with friends and watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball games. Sharon passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2024, at Highland Ridge Care Center at the age of 85 years old.
She is survived by two sons; Stuart Slaymaker of Cedar Rapids and Gary (Dawn) Houser of Forest Grove, Oregon. Five grandchildren; Kyle (Fiancé Ashley) Slaymaker, Chad (Jade) Slaymaker, Jacob (Shannon) Houser, Kamryn Houser and Caitlyn Houser. She is preceded in death by her husbands and a grandson, Jordan Slaymaker.
Celebration of life service will be 10:30 am on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Burial will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
