COLUMBIA, Mo. ? Sheila K. Corey, 72, of Columbia, Missouri, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at the Neighborhoods.
Family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, at Parker-Millard Funeral Service in Columbia, Missouri, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. with Marty Edmiston officiating. Burial with graveside services will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Columbia Cemetery. Parker-Millard Funeral Service and Crematory in Columbia, Missouri, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Corey was born March 4, 1944, in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Stanley W. Chabal and Martha (Cherwinker) Chabal. She married Steve Madsen in February 1964. She was married to Louis V. Corey on Sept. 25, 1978, in Sac City.
She was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School in Washington. She earned her LPN from Mineral Area Community College and her RN/ADN from Iowa Central Community College in 1981. She worked at Columbia Regional Hospital and Missouri Orthopedic Institute for over 25 years. She was a member of Orthopedic Nursing Certification Board. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, shopping, dancing, going to the casino, and hanging out with four-legged companions.
Surviving are her mother, Martha Chabal of Columbia; one son, Jeff Madsen and wife Janelle of Columbia; two daughters, Tracey Madsen of Portland, Oregon, and Amy Dati and husband Ed of Columbia; one stepdaughter, Michelle Dornath of Breda; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one niece; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Chabal; her husband, Louis Corey; and one sister, Marlene Elvers.
