Shirley Alice Hatch
Shirley Alice Hatch, 70, of rural Hillsboro died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2000, at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, where she had resided since March 11, 2000.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, in the Sharon Presbyterian Church in Farmington with the Rev. Jan Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Cemetery in Farmington. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the Sharon Presbyterian Church. Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hatch was born July 4, 1929, in Ft. Madison, the daughter of Ivan and Vera Lamm McVey. She married Richard Hatch on March 14, 1948, in the Presbyterian Church in West Point. She graduated from Denmark Academy High School in 1947. She and her husband farmed in the Sharon community between Hillsboro and Farmington for 52 years. She was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jill Chaplin of Milton; two brothers, Giles McVey of Dardanelle, Ariz. and Gerald McVey of West Point; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Paul McVey.
