Shirley Ann Stokes Mitchell

      Shirley Mitchell, 61, of Burlington, formerly of Monmouth, Ill., died at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.

      There will be no funeral. The body will be cremated. Visitation will begin after noon today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

      Ms. Mitchell was born on May 20, 1941, in Monmouth, the daughter of Joseph Andrew Connors and Margaret Florence Rose Witt. She was a waitress, nurse's aid and a homemaker.

      Survivors include three daughters, Debra Witt of Steamboat Rock, Pamela Turner of Burlington, and Carol Graves of West Burlington; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Payne of Mt. Pleasant, and Carl Payne of Burlington; and two sisters, Margie McNeeley and Linda Stokes, both of Galesburg, Ill.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a daughter, two great-grandchildren and a sister.
