On the morning of February 22, 2019, Shirley Arlene Arbogast (Hesseltine) of Washington, IA died at the age of 79. Born to Guy Wallace Hesseltine and Velta Leola Farrier (Lawler), Shirley was raised with her sister Inez by their loving grandparents Charlie and Frealove Farrier on their farm in the Sandy Hook area outside of Brighton. Shirley truly loved spending every minute she could with her family and enjoyed spoiling her grand and great-grandkids. As a great cook and an incredible baker, every meal with her family was made with love. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Larry "Smoke" Arbogast, infant daughter Penny Irene, sister Glogene and brother Franklin. She is survived by sister Inez (Don), 3 sons Larry (Diane), Rick (Tracy) and Tony (Tracy), daughter Jacque (Sherman), 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grand children and numerous nieces & nephews. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know her.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 Friday March 1, 2019, at Brighton Community Church, followed immediately with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Rev. Rich Zickefoose officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Hook Cemetery north of Brighton. A general memorial has been established and may be left at the church or mailed to Rick Laws, 2588 Spruce Avenue, Ainsworth, IA 52201. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is assisting the family.
