Shirley E. Eland, 71, of 708 East Broadway St., Fairfield died at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at her home.

A private family service is pending. Her body was cremated. Memorials can be made to The Lord's Cupboard or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Memorials and cards can be sent to the Richard Eland home, 708 E. Broadway St., Fairfield, Iowa, 52556.

Mrs. Eland was born July 31, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Herbert and Edna McNamee Kask. She married Richard W. Eland on Nov. 28, 1953, in Vallego, Calif. Shirley lived in the Fairfield community since 1960. She was a caring supporter of her spouse and family.

Survivors include her husband of Fairfield; three daughters, Lezlie Freeman of Fairfield, Kim Filz of Alexandria, Mo., and Laura Kaska of Fairfield; one son, Scott Eland of Keosauqua; a brother, Herbert Kask, Jr. of Excelsior, Minn.; ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dawn; and a sister, June Duncan.
