Shirley Ilene Conrad

      MARENGO - Shirley Ilene Conrad, 69, of High Amana, formerly of Wayland, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital after a battle with cancer.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church in Kalona with the Rev. Don Patterson and the Rev. Richard Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery in Wayland. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Lower Deer Creek Church Building Fund. Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

      Mrs. Conrad was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Iowa County, the daughter of Ralph and Gertrude (Miller) Gingerich. She married James Conrad on Nov. 14, 1959, at Lower Deer Creek Church in Kalona.
