Shirley J. St. John

Shirley J. St. John, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, formally of Milan, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 17, at Henry County Health Center.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home of Milan. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery of Arsenal Island.

She was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Marquis and Evelyn Hall-Schneider. On July 6, 1948, she married Charles J. St. John in Rock Island, Ill.

Mrs. St. John was a homemaker, and in early years had worked as a waitress for various restaurants in Milan. She loved to cook as a hobby and also enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and cats.

She is survived by her son, Steven St. John and his wife Karen of Viola, Ill.; her daughter, Jenean Davis of Wapello; three sisters, Karen Verschoore of Taylor Ridge, Ill., Kathryn Tapscott of Geneseo, Ill. and Sandra Crawford of Coal Valley, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband and son Terry St. John preceded her in death.
