WELLMAN ? Shirley Jean Knerr, 78, of Wellman, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at her home.
A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, April 18, at the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.
Mrs. Knerr was born Oct. 24, 1937, the daughter of Ernest E. and Beatrice (Winters) Crawford. She married Richard Knerr on Aug. 31, 1957, in Riverside.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1956. She lived in the Marion, Springville, and Keota communities before moving to Wellman in 1976. She was a homemaker, and was a cook at Golden Buckle and Long Branch in Keota. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching television, NASCAR, and spending time with family.
Surviving are five children, Mike Knerr and wife Mary of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Roger Knerr of Wellman, Jim Knerr of Wellman, Violet Smith and husband Gerry of Keota, and Valerie Winters and husband Steve of Wellman; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Gohn and husband Oliver of Fairfield, Crystal Barber of Keosauqua, Mary Knerr of Washington, and Margaret Mangold of Washington; and two brothers, John Crawford and wife Shirley of Michigan, and Tom Crawford of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, in 2011; one daughter-in-law, Lynn Knerr; four sisters, Eva Tweedy, Betty Stigers, Alevena Knerr, and Virginia Letts; and one brother, Harold Crawford.
