Shirley Mae Wright, 82, of Washington, Iowa passed away October 25, 2025. She was born August 3, 1943 in Sheffield, Illinois to Margaret De Skeere and Fred Wright. She married Ron Rice November 24, 1963 in Tampico, Illinois. While they were married, they adopted their first son Jeremy in 1971 when he was just 10 days old. In 1973 they adopted Tim and Tom Rice. They later divorced in June 1975. Shirley went on to marry the love of her life, Gary Warren York, who was originally from Washington, Iowa, but resided in Lovelock, Nevada. They got married June 9, 1984. They lived in Lovelock, Nevada for many many years where they both enjoyed classic car shows and traveling together. Shirley loved NASCAR and knitting amongst other hobbies, and she was known for her witty personality and pure heart.

She is survived by her sons, Jeremy Rice, Tom Rice, and Tim Rice, granddaughter Gabrielle Kapaliele and great-granddaughters Sheradyn Whitehead, Carsynmae Whitehead and Remingtyn Whitehead. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Gary York, her mother, Margaret, her father Fred Wright and her daughter-in-law Phyllis Rice.
