Shirley Sherman Statler

      Shirley Sherman Statler, age 86, of Washington, died Thursday July 5, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following several years of declining health.

      Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 9th at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Sunday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the West Chester Heritage Association or the Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund.       Shirley was born April 28, 1921 in West Chester, Iowa, the son of George P. and Bertha L. (Guy) Statler. He was united in marriage to Lillian Wolf on January 6, 1944 in Libertyville, Iowa.
