FAIRFIELD ? Shirley ?Maxine? Tarrence, 86, of Fairfield died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in Keota.
The body has been cremated, according to her wishes. A graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, April 3, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Coffin officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Washington County. Mrs. Tarrence was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Fairfield, the daughter of Thomas and Inez (Heston) Bagby. She married Lewis Tarrence on June 18, 1950, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Sam Williamson officiating.
She graduated from Libertyville High School in 1949. She was employed 7 1/2 years as secretary at Harper Brush Works. She also worked at Town Crier and Fairfield Ledger part time when her family was growing up. She enjoyed shopping, eating out with family and friends, and an occasional trip to the casino.
Surviving are one son, Randy Tarrence and wife Cindy of Keota; one daughter-in-law, Pat Tarrence of Fairfield; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Gowey of Salina; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Inez Bagby; her husband of 51 years, Lewis, on March 29, 2002; one son, Rex Tarrence; one sister, Wilma Moore; and one niece.
