KALONA ? Sondra Sue Preston, 78, of Wellman, formerly of Cedar Rapids and North Liberty, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, in Parkview Manor in Wellman.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will follow at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Manor in Wellman.
Mrs. Preston was born May 20, 1937, in Iowa City, the daughter of James ?Jordan? and Oramae (Schwietert) White. She married Charles Netolicky in 1956. The couple later divorced. She married Phillip Preston in 1993 in Cedar Rapids.
She attended St. Patrick?s Elementary School in Iowa City, attended Iowa City High, and graduated from Franklin Senior High in Cedar Rapids in 1955. She was employed as a clerk at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids until her retirement in 1996. She began singing and playing the piano as a little girl and developed a lifelong love of music, which she shared with residents at nursing homes for many years. She was always active, volunteering as a den mother for Cub Scouts, and as a member of parent teacher organizations, and she was involved in many church activities. She enjoyed the outdoors, boating and camping with family, and singing in the Rockwell Chorus. Second only to her love of Jesus was her love for her family and friends. She was known to possess a spirit of joy that was always evident from the smile on her face.
Surviving are four children, Jerry Netolicky and wife Cindy of Thornton, Colorado, Scott Netolicky and wife Kris of Washington, Diana Hensley and husband Chuck of Clive, and Tom Netolicky and wife Sara of Iowa City; 13 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry White and wife Terry of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phillip, on June 15, 2015; and one infant daughter, Ann Marie.
