Stanley Duane Bean

Stanley Duane Bean, 78, Columbus Junction, died Monday Sept 3, 2007 at his home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Sept.7, at 10 a.m. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Columbus City Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12 noon until 7 p.m. Thursday at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where the family will meet with friends from 4-7 p.m.

A general memorial has been established.

The son of Norman and Francis (Eden) Bean, he was born Sept. 4, 1928  in Washington.  On July 17, 1949 he married Mildred Gerling at Grandview.  He attended country school.  He farmed for 56 years and also worked at Heinz and GPC at Muscatine.

Survivors include his wife, five sons, Russ and Joan Bean of Kalona; Rodney and Lori Bean of Ainsworth; Terry and Lisa Bean of Columbus Junction; Jim Bean and friend Diane Russell of Conesville; Tom and Laurie Bean of Columbus Junction; three daughters; Janet Grimm and friend Ron Hobbs of Kalona; Jeanette and Jimmy Graves of Columbus Junction; Janelle and Tom Clark of Columbus Junction; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren;  four brothers, Danny, Wallace, Jerry and Larry Bean; and one sister, Beverly Pershy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ronald, a brother, Bernard, three sisters Geneva Gerling, Mary Kiesey, Phyllis Haury and two grandsons.
