Stephen "Steve" Greiner, 68, of Fairfield, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at Jefferson County Health Center.

Steve was born April 23, 1953, in Van Buren County to Joe and Treva Greiner. He grew up in the Fairfield area and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1972. He married Sheryl Albrecht on Nov. 26, 1983, at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

He began his career as a meat cutter for HyVee, first in Muscatine then back to Fairfield where he managed the meat department for a number of years. Steve also farmed near Libertyville from 1981 until 2018. He enjoyed raising angus cattle and was a member of the Southeast Iowa Angus Association for several years, serving one year as president. Steve also served on the Greater Jefferson County Fairboard for 12 years. He loved spending time with his kids as they participated in 4-H and showed cattle at the county fair, the Iowa Beef Expo, and the Iowa State Fair. Steve also served on the board for Farmer's Coop. He also collected John Deere memoriabila.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his daughter, Amy (Brad) Baker of Cedar Falls; his son, Adam of Des Moines; his son, Austin of Des Moines; and his grandchildren, Grant and Jillian Baker. He is also survived by his brothers, Kenny (Donna) Greiner of Brighton, Tom Greiner of Lockridge, John (Lynne) Greiner of Boone; one sister-in-law, Valerie Greiner of Missoula, Montana; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ron Greiner; and a sister-in-law, Deb Greiner.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4 p.m. to

6 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
