Steven Edward Mosinski, 62, of Packwood, IA passed away at his home on Friday, August 1, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, IA. Burial will be in the Prairie Center Cemetery in Packwood, IA immediately following. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Steve was born to Richard Mosinski and Shirley Boughner on November 24, 1962. From an early age, Steve and his 3 brothers loved wrestling each other, playing football and helping out around the family farm. Steve could always be found at the center of a prank, best known for setting off bottle rockets down the high school hallway and stealing the school bus from Mr. Davis Eidahl during Track practice. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1981 and then from Northeast Missouri State University with an Associate’s in Animal Science and Agriculture.
After graduating college, he came home to farm with his dad as well as become a part-time postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. He became a full-time carrier in 1995 and served the postal service until he retired in 2022. He was a Packwood volunteer firefighter and Packwood First Responder.
Steve always made a point to get to know his patrons along his mail routes as well as his coworkers in the post offices.
Left to remember him are his mom, Shirley, his kids; Amanda (Josh), Brad (Alicia) and Erin (Graham), his grandchildren; Rosie, Evie, Eli, Greyson and Josephine, brothers; John (Kristine), Dan, Mike (Marylin) and other extended family members.
