Steven John Svoboda

      Steven John Svoboda, 57, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Fairfield, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at his sister's residence in Cedar Rapids following a two-year battle with cancer.

      A private family service will be held at a later date.

      A general memorial has been established.

      Mr. Svoboda was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Thomas Emil and Margaret Katherine Kepler Svoboda. He married Shelly Fay Aug. 21, 1971, in Cedar Rapids.
