Susan Ann “Sue” Ertz of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Burlington, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Park Place Elder Living Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Sue was born on May 19, 1943, in Burlington, the daughter of Paul and Marilyn (Campbell) Ertz. Sue graduated from Burlington High School and later went on to graduate from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant in 1980. She was a caregiver for her parents over the years and took care of her nephews and great niece and nephews. Sue worked as a cook for Hope Haven and worked at I.R.C. in Burlington. Sue was devoted to her faith and was a member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church now a part of the Divine Mercy Parish in Burlington.

She is survived by her sister, Roxanne (David) Smith of Mt. Pleasant; her nephews, Jacob Smith and Jered Smith; and her great-niece and -nephews, Zander, Zachary and Madisyn.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Ann Elisa Smith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in Burlington, with the Very Reverend Father Marty Goetz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Scared Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
