Susan (Embree) Melzow was born January 3, 1956, in Iowa City. The daughter of Harry and Gladys (Netzer) Embree. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1974. Susan was a cook at Mid-Prairie High School. She enjoyed raising English Bulldogs, spending time with family, being outside, drinking coffee, sharing funny memes and most importantly, loving her sons and grandbabies. Susan passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 65 years.

Susan is survived by 3 sons; Clint McCain, Wyatt (Sheena) McCain and Andrew Pearson; 3 grandchildren; Sage, Aviana and Stella; a sister, Nancy Plank, a nephew, Rick Cobb, who was like a brother to her; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Embree, and a sister, Linda Clear.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, August 21, 2021, out at Stone Wall Brick Oven Pizza-Pizza on the Farm, 3297 320th street Wellman.
