Sylvia Eskenazi
Sylvia Eskenazi, born in Warsaw Poland in 1906 and long time resident of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 18th at 1 p.m., at Beth Shalom Synogogue, 308 South B St.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Congregation Beth Shalom, Tzedakah Fund, c/o 200 W. Washington, Fairfield, IA 52556.
Sylvia was a beloved member of the Beth Shalom Synagogue, bringing with her much old world wisdom and laughter. She was the "adopted" mother and grandmother of many in this community.
Sylvia worked as a seamstress in New York, and was a nanny at the ripe old age of 70.
She loved playing cards and Canasta, going to local restaurants with her family and friends, watching "Wheel of Fortune," Monday night wrestling, and socializing with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, and older daughter. Surviving is her daughter, Harriet Berman and family in Fairfield.
She lived a very long, fruitful life and her fondest memories are of spending her last 10 years in Fairfield with devoted family and friends.
