Terry Lyn Arp was born March 18, 1957, in Williamsburg, the son of Newell and Arlene (Zuber) Arp. He graduated from Williamsburg High School, Class of 1975. Terry was united in marriage to Beverly Trimpe on June 4, 1977, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Homestead. Terry farmed, did custom farming, and owned and operated Terry’s Portable Buildings. He served many years as the sexton for Trinity Lutheran Cemetery and later as elder and vice-chair of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, making wine, and collecting International Harvesters. He was a member of the Chapter 5 International Harvester Collectors Club. Terry died Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 67 years.
He is survived by his wife Bev; four children, Chris (Shelly) Arp of Williamsburg, Alicia (Nathan) Johnson of Bondurant, Jesse (Jessica) Arp of Marengo, and Andy (Heather) Arp of South Amana; 9 grandchildren, Nathan Arp, Charlotte Arp, Asher Arp, Torren Johnson, Landry Johnson, John Arp, Keith Arp, Charles Arp, and Henry Arp; his mother, Arlene Arp of Williamsburg; four sisters, Tammy (Joe) Rohret, Julie (Tom) Spratt all of Williamsburg, Brenda (Jeff) Taylor of Springville and Monica (Brad) Miller of North English; his mother-in-law, Esther Sandersfeld of Williamsburg, two brothers-in-law, Robert (Rita) Trimpe and Dean (Linda) Trimpe all of Williamsburg, a sister-in-law, Diane (Gene) Von Ahsen of Homestead and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Newell, nephew Parker Miller, fathers-in-law Alfred Trimpe, Clarence Young, and Vernon Sandersfeld, brother-in-law Keith Trimpe, niece Abby Trimpe, and great-nephew Tate Schaefer.
Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Homestead. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is caring for arrangements.
