Terry Welton Shedenhelm, 83, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Terry was born March 8, 1939 in Marengo, IA the son of Cecil and Maxine (Welton) Shedenhelm. He attended country school at Kona-Kona near Marengo. His family moved north of Belle Plaine where he attended country school in Irving, and graduated from Belle Plaine High School the Class of 1957. Following high school Terry moved to Minnesota where he attended engineering school for a year, before moving back home to be closer to Ruth Ann Sherwood. They were married November 15, 1959 at the Brooklyn Methodist Church. Together they made their home near Belle Plaine. Terry worked the family farm and was a TV repairman for S&W Appliance.

Terry enjoyed photography, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, dancing with Ruth Ann, music, listening to Elvis and playing the trumpet. He loved watching sports, especially cheering on his children and grandchildren.

Terry was active in the FFA and a member of the Farm Bureau.

Terry is survived by children, Terri Jo Hinschberger of Belle Plaine, IA, Kim (Dan) Horras of Dayton, OH, Kurtis Shedenhelm of Des Moines, Kevin (Crystal) Shedenhelm of Denver, IA; sister, Judy (Don) Harris of Tavernier, FL; brother, Rodney (Lavila Nelson) Shedenhelm; grandchildren, Shanna (Paul), Dustin (Jen), Drew (Val), Jordan (Chelsi), Taylor (Ryan), Justin (Annie), Cecilia (Ty), Cassidy, Jacob, Blaze (Emily) Chase (Victoria), Izaak; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Tate, Addilyn, Ava, Sophia, Olivia, Cali, Ty, Vayda, Holden, August, Vale, Hudson, Sutton, Wynn, Riya, Penelope, and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Ann Shedenhelm; son-in-law, Kurt Hinschberger.

Funeral service was 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at United Methodist Church, Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
