Thelma Bernice Farrier

    Thelma Bernice Farrier, 87, of Wayland died Friday, July 17, 2009, in Mercy Hospital Hospice Center in Iowa City following an extended illness.

    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Wayland with the Rev. Phil Slabaugh officiating.  Burial will be at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth.  Visitation began at noon today at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.  Memorials have been established to Bethel Mennonite Church, Hospice of Washington County, or to the Ainsworth American Legion for the Avenue of Flags. 

    Mrs. Farrier was born March 23, 1922, in Ainsworth, the daughter of Earl Edward and Mable Elizabeth (McFarland) Gesling.  She married Delbert Goodwin in 1940 in Washington.  She later married Lee Farrier, on Nov. 29, 1947, in Davenport.
