Thelma M. Wilson

Thelma M. Wilson, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Mrs. Wilson was born on Dec. 7, 1912 at Osceola to Oren O. and Cornia E. Miller Kerr. On Feb. 10, 1939 at Unionville, Mo., she married John W. Wilson who preceded her in death on May 6, 1992.

A 1924 graduate of Osceola High School, she worked for O.T. Wilson Henry Co. Mutual Insurance office in Mt. Pleasant for 11 years. She then was a Secretary of the Board of Education of the Mt. Pleasant Community School District for 22 years, retiring in 1977.

She was then a member of First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, United Methodist Women, Mentor Club, and Entre Nous. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter Original A. Founder's Chapter of T.T.T., and a 50-year member of Bethlehem Chapter 38 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Wessling of Washington and Mary (and son-in-law, Kenneth) Kennedy of Champaign, Ill.; one son, William A. Wilson of Wolfeboro, N.H.; one daughter-in-law, Andrea Wilson of Wellesley, Mass.; six grandchildren, Angi Shelangoski of Iowa City, Chuck Wessling of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Betty McDowell of Keokuk; and one brother, Dean F. Kerr of Sun City, Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Maxine Foster; and one brother, Earl L. Kerr.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2000 at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m.

Memorial funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Kiboko I. Kiboko officiating.

Interment of her cremains will be held in Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to Van Vorhies Haus Resident's Fund or First United Methodist Church.
