Theresa Peiffer

KEOTA ? Theresa Marie Peiffer, 87, of Marion, formerly of Keota, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in Village Ridge Care Center in Marion.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Holy Trinity Parish ? St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries ? St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer?s Association. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Peiffer was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County, the daughter of Mike and Margaret (Greiner) Sieren. She married Kenneth J. Peiffer on Jan. 31, 1948, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church.

She attended Ss. Peter and Paul School. She and her husband made their home and farmed in the Harper community. In 1982 the couple moved to Keota. In 2007, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado; and in 2013 she moved to Marion.

Surviving are four children, Gary Peiffer and wife Linda of Marion, Mary Carter and husband Kenneth of Jasper, Alabama, Linda Moyes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ted Peiffer and wife Elizabeth of Rapid City, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Corrine Lenaghan of Rock Island, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth, in 2005; eight brothers, Leo in infancy, Albert in infancy, Raymond, Carl, Leonard, Joe, Elmer, and Paul; and two sisters, Anne O?Rourke, and Sister Helen Sieren.
