THOMAS DEAN KAUFFMAN
Troy, Mo.
Thomas Dean Kauffman, 74, of Troy, Mo., passed from this life on January 25, 2022, at his Mark Twain Lake
home in northeast Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. February 5, at the Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland, Iowa. Pastor Michael Swartzendruber will officiate.
Burial will be at North
Hill Cemetery in Wayland.
Born to Donald J. Kauffman and Miriam Meyer Kauffman on April 28, 1947, in Henry County, Iowa, he was the much loved first son. Raised in rural Wayland, Iowa, he began his love for the country life. He had a brother, Terry Lee and a sister, Debra Ann. The family moved to Fairfield, Iowa where he graduated from Fairfield High School and played several sports. From there, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. It was while at Palmer, he met his wife of 52 years, Sandra Kay Cook. To this union, were born three children, Kristin, Susan and Jeffrey. He established practices in Iron Mountain, Michigan as well as Wellman, Washington and Wayland, Iowa. Dr. Tom enjoyed raising horses and cattle on his Coppock farm as well as hunting, fishing, and boating. He also was a real estate broker in Iowa and Missouri. He was an active member of the Wayland community, served as a volunteer fire fighter and was a member of the United Methodist Church. He and Sandra moved to Troy, Missouri in 2001. They spent many years in the Mark Twain Lake area. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; four children, Kristin Weber (Larry) of O'Fallon, MO, Susan Kayser of O'Fallon, MO, Jeffrey Kauffman (Ann) of Chesterfield, MO, Michelle Galey (Eric) of Spokane, WA; one sister, Debra Barnhart (David) of Clermont, FL; and one aunt, Audrey Kauffman of Wayland, IA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Andrew Weber, Aimee Weber, Anna Weber, Alexis Kayser, Elizabeth Kayser, Jacob Kauffman and Paige Galey; and many cousins and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Terry Kauffman; and one son-in-law, Robert Kayser Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Hill Cemetery, Wayland, IA.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Weber,
Aimee Weber, Anna Weber, Alexis Kayser, Elizabeth Kayser and Jacob Kauffman.
